Sometimes You Kick, Sometimes You Get Kicked

Wednesday December 15, 2021 - Day -1

Blogging Tunes: None

I feel like crap.  That second chemo and steroid was awful.  Now I'm on a ton of meds -- including tacrolimus, which completely kills my energy -- have zero appetite, and I'm nauseous a lot.

Yesterday was brutal.  Today seems like it might be a little better but can't tell yet.  Just walked laps for less than 10 mins and came back to my room due to fatigue and nausea.

I did snap a few photos of an amazing rainbow that appeared for a minute right outside my hospital room yesterday.  I took it as a good omen.  Here are a couple:

Also, it looks like I've found by "Big Climb" training space on the 12th floor.  Hello, stairs.

Did 2 minutes of step-ups this morning during the walk, and that's all I could handle.

I really need to talk to the doctors this morning... my WBC and ANC are going *up* not down (like they're supposed to.) Yesterday, Dr. Olin said she wasn't worried about it, but look at the difference between yesterday and today.

Fingers crossed that it's not a problem for transplant tomorrow.

  1. Sounds majorly crappy JG!! Hard for your adoring fans to even imagine how tough your journey is in reality. Sure is for THIS adoring fan. Looking at the photo of those stairs and thinkin "No problem!" the way I wish you could.
Just want ya to know I'm thinkin about you and sending STRENGTH VIBES across the Bay to you brother. Hope you can get some nourishment in ya.
You have come so far already! I hope the transplant goes well and you can turn the page to the next chapter and begin that climb, one foot in front of the other...
    Much love,

  4. Thinking of you. I saw the rainbow too, and it's an echo of a rainbow during your hospital stay from ten years ago. I hope your numbers move(d) in the right direction, and that you're able to proceed with the BMT today.
