It's Just an Automatic Line

Blogging Tunes: MLB: PIT@PHI

I’m going to try to dictate a lot of this blog post… hopefully this will be a more sustainable way for me to communicate, since typing on my phone or iPad is extremely draining.

I’m starting to realize that there can’t be any expectations around what happens here. I’m literally going day by day and hour by hour.  I think it was silly to assume that this go around would be anything like the last one. Why would it be?

In fact, to all the people that I spoke with via the LLS “first connections” program over the years, shame on me for thinking that my experience would have any bearing on what yours would be. Even now, meeting Lisa and Aasim here on 11-Long, I realize that advice from someone who was10 years cured only has so much bearing on your lives.

Anyway, I know I’ve set the expectation that I would blog frequently. I want to unset that expectation right now. Who knows, maybe I’ve turned a corner and more frequent blogging is actually in the cards. I really don’t know. The most intense of the first part of the chemo has passed, so now it’s more of a waiting game for week two. Oh, and lots of bags of blood and platelets.

Still, the chemo (both IV and oral) has been awful.  It takes every bit of effort, and a balance of anti-nausea meds so that I can keep down the various pills they give me. And I’m barely eating. Maybe one cuppa noodles and one pop tart per day, total.

As a result, they started me on Marinol again today. For those who don’t remember the first time around, go back to April 2011 blog entries to see what that’s all about.

Fortunately, Heather has been able to come by and visit twice. Those visits were really really nice. For the other locals who keep asking if they can come by, I’m sorry. I’m just not ready for it yet.

Benji also stopped by for a bit today to try to fix my laptop… That’s still a work in progress. Thanks, B.

OK… As Larry Anderson tells us the Honda keys to the game, I’m going to wrap up this post. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Thank you for all the support you’ve given me, Heather, and the boys… and for all the contributions to the Light the Night campaign.

Surviving, day by day.
