UCSF appt turns into UCSF stay

Well, at least I had one full day at home. The problem is, I was having fevers and sweats -- no good.
Based on everything that's going on with me (and the fact that my white counts are still low) they want to admit me and keep me here for "probably about a week".

Also found out that my chromosomes are bad which means a BMT (bone marrow transplant) is likely the only chance of a cure. Dave, let's pray that we're a match. It's a 25% chance. We'll talk about process later.
Somehow, some way, iwkia,

  2. I am really sorry to hear this news. For what it's worth, I am a willing bone marrow donor registered through the National Bone Marrow Donor program. I don't really know how it works but if you and your bro don't match, and we miraculously do, I'd be not only happy but honored to be there for you. With love and hope,
    Mike

  3. Dude... please keep us apprised of how things go with this, and what to do to find out if we are appropriate matches should Dave not be a match. At least you are closer to home (yeah?) and under some top care. And that one day at home was the shape of things to come.

Love you, man... keep the energy flowing (I will too).

  5. You will be back home soon!

If Dave's not a match, Chris and I are committed to becoming registered donors (we should be anyway!).

    We're thinking about you everyday,

  10. For those asking, you can go to marrow.org to register as a donor. They'll send you a cheek swab kit. I sent mine in yesterday. Easy Peasy.
